WHY SELECT AN ACCREDITED COMPANY?
There are almost six hundred association management companies in the United States - how can an association begin to determine which one is right for their organization? By narrowing the search to firms that have been accredited by the AMC Institute, associations can be assured that the company has met rigorous, measurable performance practices that demonstrate that defined processes, controls, and systems are in place. And that a thorough review has been conducted by an independent accounting firm to assure compliance. In other words, a firm that has a strong commitment to quality.
The Standard addresses recording keeping, accounting, and internal control procedures; insurance coverages; staff performance reviews and professional development support; subcontracting and purchasing requirements and procedures; service delivery standards; contingency and disaster planning; among many other areas. By selecting an accredited company you won't need to be concern about whether
- your funds are being co-mingled with other associations,
- employees are bonded and insured,
- the company is receiving a commission from a conference hotel they are recommending,
- the firm is in compliance with employment laws,
- due diligence is being exercised when the firm is purchasing products or services.
Only twenty-four companies in the world have achieved dual accreditation. PMA is accredited by both the American Society of Association Executives & The Center for Association Leadership and the AMCI Institute.
PMA was recognized as a Charter Accredited AMC by the American Society of Association Executives & The Center for Association Leadership, a distinction given to the first companies that applied for accreditation.
The AMCI Institute is a recognized standard developer by the American National Standards Institute (
www.ansi.org). ANSI oversees the creation, promulgation, and use of thousands of norms and guidelines that directly impact business in nearly every sector. ANSI is also actively engaged in accrediting programs that assess conformance to standards, including globally-recognized cross-sector programs such as the ISO 9000 (quality) and ISO 14000 (environmental) management systems - and the AMCI standard.
